“Winter” and “Sigh,” Two Poems by Roberta Iannamico
“Winter”
Colored wool
across the table
the fire lit
it’s finally winter
short days
austere
the fire is
the heart of this house
mine also gives off heat
I exist
all around it
*
“Sigh”
Such restlessness
said like that
in a deep
but quiet voice
that’s how I want to start a poem
about the wind
blowing on the grass
not about me.
